Gerry specialises in costing and performance measurement. His approach to performance evaluation has included the development of balanced scorecards and activity based costing models, benchmarking key performance indicators and economic value-added analysis.

Gerry is a registered consultant with the Queensland Industry Development Scheme (QIDS) in the categories of Strategic Planning, Business Planning and Process Improvement. During 2001/2002, he spent five months representing Queensland Rail on an Asian Development Bank Project in Uzbekistan, assisting their railways to prepare for an inaugural computerised accounting system.

Gerry worked for eighteen years as a commercial accountant in the steam generation industry throughout Australia and New Zealand. For the last six years of this period he was project manager of major thermal insulation contracts on power station construction sites at Huntly (NZ) and Tarong, Queensland. This was followed by four years in the computer industry with full responsibility for corporate financial, secretarial and administrative control.
